Nadia Du Plessis Understanding ADHD Training 17 May 2025
  • absolutely fabulous. Amazing, wonderful training, such a big help & support to those struggling. The support of Spectrum connections is invaluable. A++ morning educational training that couldn’t have been better communicated & understood well. More of this training would be invaluable to Tauranga families.
  • Access to an educational psychologist to be able to Q&A for an affordable price! Fantastic info, very comprehensive. Great to have a copy of the slides will go home & go over them again more slowly. Gaining and increased understanding & more clarity.
  • Information and understanding of benefits and challenges alongside how to support these. Nadia is a fantastic, knowledgeable and empathetic presenter. It is invaluable to have the time to share experiences and ideas with other parents. A chance to ask a professional our questions, many do not have to money to access help like this.
  • Lots of info in a short space of time but fantastically presented. Lots of great time for Q&A & discussion. Thank you! As an ECE Kaialeo – This would be fabulous PLD for our Kaialeo and should absolutely be funded to support Kaialeo knowledge (simpler than ENGAGE and Incredible Years which are both more intense & longer).
  • Amazing presentation, easy to digest, relatable & real! I would love this information to be yelled from the rooftops. Nadia is exceptional, so knowledgeable and willing to share. Very invaluable. Thank you!
  • I found this session very informative. Thank you! I would like to attend more. Easy to follow & listen to.
  • Really enjoyed Nadia’s workshop today – very affirming and informative! I enjoyed learning about the biological reasons why kids with ADHD present with particular symptoms. I look forward to attending the next training workshop. Many thanks. A.G.
  • I really enjoyed the day, thank you so much. Lovely, kind people & delicious lunch. Always a pleasure.
  • Super helpful information & questions & answer session.
  • Awesome workshop! I loved it! Ideas for future topics – PDA, Executive functioning hacks, ADHD & Autism in teens & adults, dyslexia dyspraxia dyscalculia. Specific training on specific aspects like sensory profiles, communication, medication.

Mums Day Off 10 May 2025
  • Great day! Had a lovely walk at McLarens Falls – beautiful, tasty lunch, and the most amazing relaxing massage. What a perfect day. I.E.
  • Love the beautiful scenery, great vibes from meeting this group, found out some amazing information to support my daughter. It feels like a safe amazing place to relax. I loved my massage and being part of this great small community. Here to stay :-). L.H.
  • I had the best day out here! First time and can't wait to come back. Beautiful property, lovely & peaceful! Very relaxing and welcoming too. So happy my daughter invited me, and I came along. As we both found out very helpful information about what would be so useful when it comes to my granddaughter who is gifted with Autism. The massage was the highlight of my Mums Day Off! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire day here & meeting other mums as well! I will be back for more in the future. A.H.
  • I have been here several times and intend to come several times more. For me, it's a place where I can rest, recharge and regulate once a month. It's a safe place to share my journey with my autistic daughter and get support and understanding like no other. Thanks again MJ for providing such a peaceful retreat in paradise. A.G.

  • It was awesome to see my son trying something new, golf & frisbee golf. I had a great time. Thank you. D.L.
  • What an awesome open day we had at Youth Encounter. The lovely staff were so encouraging & supportive. The kids all loved frisbee golf, driving range, motorbike riding & yummy morning tea. What an awesome organisation and we will look forward to bringing my son along to one of the programmes. Being the best version of yourself is really encouraged and that’s tight up my alley. T.M.

Mums Day Off – 5 October
  • An amazing relaxing venue and a much-needed break from a stressful home life. Just to be with other mums in similar situations and be able to talk about how hard and exhausting our lives can be, without judgement is such a breath of fresh air. Highly recommend for anyone who needs to rest and reset.” K
  • “Spending the day at the retreat has been great. As a solo mum to 2 AuDHD children it is rare to get time off. I am also looking into either home-schooling or Te Kura next year for my completely time blind daughter which is going to mean even less time for myself. What I have enjoyed is being able to just relax as well as chat openly with the other mums about our struggles and brainstorm ideas on how to support each other. I am looking forward to coming again.” L
  • “My first time here at this place and I really enjoyed having a chance to get away from my normal routine doing housework and chores on Saturday. So, this retreat helps me to have some tie for myself in spending time with other women going through things in life like my journey, so I am very grateful for today.” anonymous
  • “This is my 3rd visit to this retreat and it’s something that always replenishes my energy and soothes my soul. Huge thanks to Mary-Jane for facilitating these retreats.” Anonymous
  • “Love the relaxed vibe in the house on these special days, no matter who the ladies are that attend.” anonymous

Coffee Support Group – 21 September 2024

  • “Amazing to listen to Nadia and then to meet with other parents who just “Get It” anonymous
  • “The Spectrum connections meetings are such a great way to peel off my mask and talk honestly about struggles with parents that just “get it”. Being able to bring my kids along as a solo mother is great as I don’t need to organise babysitting. The bonus is my children love coming along as they get to socialize in a safe place with other kids that are also neurodiverse.” L
